Suntel Mail Configuration
Unlike some other hosting companies, Suntel's mail system requires all logins contain your FULL email address including the domain part. This means that if your email address is spam-me@domain.com then your Webmail, POP3, IMAP and SMTP user name is also spam-me@domain.com NOT spam-me. If you are moving from another hosting company you will need to check that you have your mail client(s) configured in this way.
Suntel's mailbox and outbound mail relay server is:
mail.suntel.com.tr
It supports the following mail protocols
SMTP Configuration
SMTP Authentication
All mail relay via mail.suntel.com.tr must be authenticated otherwise the server will REJECT it. The means that in your mail program you need to select "My Server requires Authentication" or similar and enter your full email address in the username field and your account password in the password field.
Supported SMTP Procotols
You may send mail for relay with any of the following protocols (In order of preference):
- SMTP SUBMISSION
- SMTP Submission on port 587 is the new standard for sending email and is recommended by Suntel. In particular mobile users should use it as wireless hot-spots and hotels often block port 25 in an attempt to limit spam from their networks.
- SMTPS
- SMTPS on port 465 is fully supported by Suntel and is supported by all current mail programs.
- SMTP with TLS Security
- SMTPS on port 25 is fully supported by Suntel and is supported by most current mail programs.
- SMTP without TLS Security
- SMTP on port 25 is supported by Suntel but we recommend that you do not use this VERY INSECURE way of sending your email. Suntel takes no responsibility for your password being compromised if you use this method.
POP Configuration
- POP3 with TLS Security
- POP3 on port 110/tcp with TLS Security is fully supported by suntel and is the recommended way of receiving POP mail if your mail program supports it.
- POP3S
- POP3S on port 995/tcp is fully supported by suntel and is supported by all current mail programs.
- POP3 without TLS Security
- POP3 on port 110/tcp without TLS Security is supported by suntel but we HIGHLY recommend that you do not use this VERY INSECURE way of retrieving your email. Suntel takes no responsibility for the privacy of your accounting being compromised if you use this method.
IMAP Configuration
- IMAP with TLS Security
- IMAP on port 143 with TLS Security is fully supported by Suntel and is the recommended way of receiving POP mail if your mail program supports it.
- IMAPS
- IMAPS on port 993 is fully supported by Suntel and is supported by all current mail programs.
- IMAP without TLS Security
- IMAP on port 143 without TLS Security is supported by Suntel but we recommend that you do not use this VERY INSECURE way of retrieving your email. Suntel takes no responsibility if your password is compromised if you use this method.
Web Mail
Suntel Instant Messenger
Suntel's Instant Messaging system uses the XMPP protocol (more commonly known as Jabber). We have an open interconnection policy by default, so users who have an IM enabled account with Suntel may chat with any other Jabber users (Including Google Talk users) unless their company has specifically requested interconnection be disabled for their domain.
As XMPP is an open standard there is a large number of IM clients that work with our service. Use whichever one you like.. We don't mind at all!
In case you don't already have a preference, here are some instructions on downloading and installing various IM client.
